Who I am and what I believe
I believe there is a kinder, calmer way to resolve family law disputes—one that prioritises collaboration, understanding, and the well-being of families. By moving away from litigious solutions and embracing client-led methods such as mediation and collaborative family law, we can save time, reduce costs, and foster healthier relationships post-separation.
From a young age, I felt a calling to help families navigate their unique challenges. Growing up in a separated family myself, I gained a deep understanding of the emotional and practical difficulties families face during such transformative times. This personal experience shaped my approach to family law, instilling in me a genuine compassion and commitment to making a difference.
I earned my combined Law/Arts Degree in 2002 and have since worked as a family lawyer in Brisbane, Sydney, and Canberra, gaining extensive knowledge and experience in Family Law matters. In 2005, I moved to Cooma, where I continued my work as a Family Lawyer for 20 years. During this time, I served as a Family Law panel member for Legal Aid NSW, became a partner in a law firm, and completed my Masters in Applied Law (Family Law).
My own journey through separation, while raising two young children, has given me a unique perspective and empathy for those navigating similar paths. I understand the complexities and emotional toll of separation, and this drives my commitment to supporting families with care and understanding.
Today, I am a trained Mediator, a Nationally Accredited Mediator, and a Collaborative Family Law Practitioner. My dedication to fostering peaceful resolutions has been recognised through awards such as Family Law Peacemaker of the Year at the Inaugural Peacemaker Awards in 2021, and as a finalist for “Sole Practitioner of the Year” at the Women in Law Awards.
Having worked within the Family Law system for many years, I understand its challenges. The system, while designed to assist families and prioritise the interests of children, is often slow, congested, and costly. These inefficiencies can exacerbate conflicts and lead to irreparable breakdowns in relationships. I believe it doesn’t have to be this way.
I am passionate about working with people and understanding their unique stories. I listen deeply, seeking to understand your experiences and what matters most to you. My goal is to help you and your family navigate this journey with compassion, clarity, and a focus on building a better future.
Through collaborative family law, mediation, and client-centred approaches, I am committed to helping families find solutions that are not only effective but also kinder and more sustainable. Together, we can create a path forward that prioritises your needs and fosters healing and growth.
